DECKs & railings

Common FAQs

WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCT DO YOU USE?

Each project is different and so we use many different products. Depending on the condition of your wood and what has previously been applied, the solution to your needs will vary.

We will consult with you to determine the look and durability you desire, then determine what will work best for you. We can use transparent, semi-transparent and a myriad of “deck over” products to help restore and elongate the life of your deck and rails.

WHAT PREPARATION DO YOU DO?

The surface will need to be thoroughly cleaned and often sanded prior to applying a new topcoat. Depending on the condition of your deck or rails and the previous products applied, we will use deck cleaners or pressure wash the surface prior to sanding if needed.

In all cases we will prepare the surface for your chosen topcoat using the highest standards of durability.

WHAT IF I HAVE DAMAGE TO MY DECK OR RAILINGS?

As part of the inspection process prior to formalizing a quote we will inspect the deck for loose or damaged boards, protruding screws and weak substructure.

These repairs will be made part of the quote and made prior to beginning the resurfacing of the wood. Most repairs are minor and done regularly at no additional cost.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Most projects can be completed within 2-4 days. Weather can be a factor as well as the size and condition of your deck.

If a good cleaning is required, we will need a couple dry days to let the deck completely dry before moving to the next step. We like to start projects on Monday and can almost always complete the project by Friday.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

The cost of deck and railing coatings is largely determined by square footage of deck and linear feet of railing. Additional factors are the product to be applied and amount of preparation needed prior to coating.

Generally speaking on square footage basis, you can expect to pay $2-$4 per square foot and $3-$5 per linear foot of railing.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY?

Different products carry different warranties. Some stains are designed to be applied every year or two. Others can last up to 5 years. Some even longer.

We will apply all coatings to manufacturer standards and product warranties will apply. As with all our services, we offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied we aren’t done!
